Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart from Islamabad today for a three-nation official visit covering Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Qatar, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

The visit will take place from April 15 to 18, with the prime minister leading a high-level delegation that includes senior cabinet members and officials.

In Jeddah, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to meet Saudi leadership, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to discuss bilateral cooperation as well as regional peace and security.

The visit to Saudi Arabia will be followed by a trip to Türkiye, where he is expected to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. He will later travel to Qatar for additional high-level consultations.

According to the Foreign Office, the discussions in Saudi Arabia and Qatar will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation while also addressing evolving regional security developments.

Pakistan has been playing an active diplomatic role in recent weeks, facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran amid rising tensions in the Gulf. That engagement led to a fragile ceasefire and early-stage negotiations held in Islamabad.

The trip comes at a time of deepening strategic ties between Pakistan and Gulf partners, particularly Saudi Arabia, which has recently extended financial support and deposit facilities worth billions of dollars to help stabilise Pakistan’s economy.

The two countries also maintain a growing defense partnership, formalised through a mutual defense agreement under which an attack on either side is treated as an attack on both.

Officials say the visit reflects Pakistan’s efforts to maintain close coordination with key allies while supporting regional stability and diplomatic de-escalation.
