Gaza, 20 November 2023 (TDI): In a process of evacuation that started a week ago, Russia evacuated more than 550 Russian nationals, which included 230 children from the Gaza Strip, Russia’s emergencies ministry said on Sunday.
According to the Emergencies Ministry of Russia, 408 of those evacuated have already been brought to Moscow. It also included 120 Russians who arrived late Saturday on a special flight from Egypt.
Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry reported that 120 passengers, including Russian citizens and their family members, including passport holders from Palestine, were evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
They landed at Domodedovo Airport aboard EMERCOM’s special flight and were all provided hot meals and warm clothes and passed border control.
Moreover, the process of limited evacuation, which began on November 1, of Palestinians and foreign passport holders needing urgent medical treatment in Egypt has faced a dire situation.
The constant bombardment that hit or targeted medical convoys made the evacuation very difficult and caused it to pause several times.
“Russian Emergency Situations Ministry specialists are providing medical and psychological assistance to the people on site and providing them with food and water,” the Emergencies Ministry said.
It is unclear how many Russian citizens are expected to leave Gaza. According to Russian media, some 1,000 Russians and nationals from the republics of the former Soviet Union have expressed a wish to leave.

The Gaza Strip has been targeted and destroyed by an Israeli bombardment campaign launched in response to Hamas’ surprise assault in southern Israel on October 7, which saw the deaths of at least 1,200 people.
In the conflict that has persisted for over 6 weeks, more than 11,000 Palestinians have been killed so far, including over 4,400 children, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.
