Prime Ministers of Pakistan and Iraq held telephone talks

Islamabad, 24 September 2021 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan received a telephone call from Prime Minister of Iraq, Mustafa Al- Kadhimi.

During the call, both Prime Ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, trade investments and promotion of religious tourism. Prime Minister Imran Khan conveyed his wishes to Iraqi Prime Minister for upcoming parliamentary elections later this year.

Khan appreciated Iraqi government for hosting thousands of Pakistani Zaireen who visit Iraq for religious purposes every year.

Both officials exchange views on benefits of promoting religious tourism between Iraq and Pakistan. During the conversation, both Prime Ministers also discussed current developments in Afghanistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan gave brief about Pakistan’s take in doing efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan. The officials also highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian assistance to Afghan people.

Khan also expressed his congratulations to Iraqi Prime Minister for successfully holding the Baghdad conference on ‘’Cooperation and Partnership’’.
