Brussels, 25 August 2021 (TDI): Ursula Von Der Leyen, President of the European Commission after the summit of G7 said that all the G7 member countries have deep concerns about the current situations of Afghanistan. The resettling of Afghan refugees is the concern of the international and global community. For these efforts, the Western allies will coordinate with UNHCR, UN IOM, USA, Canada, and EU member countries as well.
President EU Commission further stated in a press conference following the G7 meeting that helping Afghan citizens at the time of need is their duty. In this regard, discussions were made for evacuation plans, humanitarian aids, assistance, long-term development projects, and the protection of Afghan refugees.
She informed that humanitarian operations providing medical facilities, food, water, and sanitation facilities were being conducted but assistance for those at immediate risk was needed still.
President EU Commission also urged the international community to support the Afghan refugees in neighboring countries of the region and with their cooperation and assistance.
