PESHAWAR (TDI): Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, a former senator and senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), has passed away.
He was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad at the time of his death. His funeral prayer will be held tomorrow at 2:00 pm at Wazir Bagh in Peshawar.
Ilyas Ahmad Bilour served four consecutive terms in Pakistan’s upper house of parliament. He was the brother of ANP’s martyred leader, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, and the uncle of Haroon Bilour, who was also killed in a tragic attack.
Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, another member of the family, recently retired from politics after suffering losses in his last three electoral contests in Peshawar.
Ilyas Bilour had previously stated that the martyrdom of his brother, Bashir Bilour, and nephew, Haroon Bilour, along with his own electoral defeats, led him to withdraw from active politics.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his grief over the death of Ilyas Ahmed Bilour and prayed for granting highest ranks in heaven for him and also expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
He said that Ilyas Ahmed Bilor unforgettable services for the welfare of the people will be remembered.
