Pentagon Chief condemns Russian brutality in Ukraine

Washington, 30 December 2023 (TDI): Pentagon Chief Lloyd J. Austin, spoke to Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov on the current brutality of Russia. The attack was seen as one of the biggest attacks on the country since the start of the war.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin released a written statement that said, “I spoke to my Ukrainian counterpart to discuss the latest on the ground including Russia’s brutal attack. Furthermore, he said, “I underscored that the US support and our coalition of some 50 allies and partners are in the fight against Russian aggression and will remain steadfast.”

According the US Department of State, the two leaders have agreed to remain in close contact.

Reportedly, Ukraine claimed an ammunition-led Russian ship and five Sukhoi fighters and bombers made a tactical retreat in the east. Ukrainian fighter planes launched cruise missiles against the Ropucha-class landing ship on the night of December 25-26.

Additionally, Poland reported the incursion of an unknown airborne object which they identified as a Russian missile. The missile entered the country’s airspace from the direction of Ukraine in three minutes.

Poland’s Defense Chief said, “Everything indicates that a Russian missile intruded into Poland’s airspace. It was monitored by us on radars and left the airspace.”

Moreover, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a written statement that said, “Almost 160 missiles and drones were launched by Russia on Ukraine. 30 people have been reported dead while 150 have been injured.”

In addition he said, “it is important that the world responds to this terror. I thank each of my country supporters. We will continue to strengthen our air defense and work to return back to where it came from – Russia.”

Lastly, Putin in his end of the year speech said, “there will only be peace in Ukraine when we achieve our aims.”
