Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s tennis player, Talha Waheed, has set a new world record of most tennis serves in a minute.
Previously, this record was held by America’s John Perry who made it in 2019 with 42 serves in a minute. Talha Waheed broke Perry’s record by playing 59 successful serves in one minute.
He achieved this benchmark in November last year when, after a rigorous practice of three months, his tennis racket did the magic and a new world record was set.
After a review of his entry request, the Guinness Book of World Records accepted Talha’s record this week and Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) proudly shared the certificate.

At this occasion, PTF’s President, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, lauded Talha Waheed’s achievement and congratulated him. He called it an inspiration for new players in Pakistan’s narrow tennis landscape.
He said, “Talha’s achievement is a huge boost for tennis in Pakistan and will certainly inspire others.”
Talha Waheed is from Lahore and has played in a number of national and international tennis competitions. He has numerous victories to his credit as well, in the 30+, 35+, and 40+ doubles categories.
In the International Tennis Federation (ITF) career-high rankings, Talha has reached a ranking of 144 in the 40+ doubles category.
Despite tennis being a niche sport in Pakistan, dedicated athletes like Talha Waheed continue to bring recognition to the country on the global stage.
The tennis infrastructure is limited but it does not hinder ambitious tennis players from making a mark. The PTF, under the leadership of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, is also doing a remarkable effort to support tennis players in Pakistan.
In the history of tennis in Pakistan, Aisam-ul-Haq remains the most successful player who reached the Grand Slam finals in doubles and made the country proud.
