Ottawa, 1 October 2021 (TDI): On Thursday, Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Canada Ameer Khurram Rathore commended the role of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada’s public and political life. He gave the remarks while addressing an online public forum held by the Pakistan High Commission Canada, alongside its Consulates in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
Pakistan High Commission Canada organized the public forum on September 30 where the Consulate Generals of Pakistan in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal ensured their participation. The officials accompanied High Commissioner-designate Ameer Khurram Rathore in addressing the community’s questions regarding public and consular services. Rathore expressed great pleasure over the involvement of Pakistani Canadians in politics, development, public life, and progress of the country, emphasizing that the recent participation of around thirty Pakistani Canadians in the electoral process and six of them being elected as the Parliament members, reflects their meaningful contribution to Canada’s politics and public life.
During the hour-long online session, Rathore reiterated that the Pakistani community residing in Canada can further enhance its role and identity in the political and social fabric in Pakistan as well. Several other topics were discussed in the public forum as well, including the procedure for processing legal heir or succession certificates, ways to increase the intake of Pakistani students in the visa processing facility named Student Direct Stream (SDS), suggestions for bilateral aviation business, the taxation issue while using Roshan Digital Accounts (RDAs), and opening of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) service in Toronto.
