Pakistan’s Foreign Minister receives Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan

Islamabad, 22 March 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, met his Kazakh counterpart, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, In Islamabad. The meeting took place on the sidelines of OIC CFM on March 22.

During the meeting, Pakistan Foreign Minister recalled his previous meetings with the Kazakh Foreign Minister. Overall, these meetings remained successful for the development and progress of bilateral ties between both states.

Similarly, both ministers agreed to boost the bilateral relationship in areas of tourism, connectivity, and trade. However, both sides also highlighted the significance of people-to-people contacts.

Further, Foreign Minister Qureshi highlighted the significance of institutional mechanisms and regular exchanges as well. In the same vein, he stressed the effective follow-up of the result of the Joint Ministerial Commission.

Besides, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister underscored the need for collaboration in various sectors, particularly in the railways and transportation sector. In addition to that, he deliberated upon regional issues.

Thereafter, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan informed his Kazakh counterpart regarding the position of Pakistan on several issues including human rights violations in IIOJK.

Lastly, both Foreign Ministers emphasized the commitment to enhance bilateral collaboration in different sectors. Both sides also reaffirmed commitment at the regional and international forum which includes OIC, UN, SCO, and ECO.

OIC CFM- A Brief Overview

The 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC is being held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The theme of the 48th CFM is Building Partnerships for Unity, Justice, and Development. The Summit will last for two days from March 22 to 23, 2022.

Above all, OIC will address multifarious topics as well as the activities of the OIC General Secretariat. The agenda of the 48th OIC CFM is to evaluate the implementation of the resolutions adopted on various matters in the Islamic world.

Moreover, the session will also discuss the issue of Palestine as well as Al-Quds Ash-Sharif, the developments in Afghanistan and their humanitarian consequences for the Afghan people, and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
