Islamabad, 22 March 2022 (TDI): The 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is underway in Islamabad. The session will last till tomorrow.

Prominent figures from the Islamic world are attending the noteworthy session. The agenda of the session is to brainstorm about various afflictions faced by the Islamic world as well as their possible resolution.
Representatives of China, Bahrain, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, United States, Iraq, Australia, Egypt, and Palestine are attending the session.
Moreover, dignitaries from Sudan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Thailand, Tunisia, and UAE are also in attendance among others. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan welcomed the dignitaries for the session.

The Secretary-General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha arrived in Pakistan, yesterday to attend the significant CFM session. He also held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on the sidelines.
During the meeting, the two dignitaries reviewed the agenda of the 48th OIC CFM along with exchanging views on main outcomes. Foreign Minister Qureshi appreciated the OIC’s support to designate 15th March as the International day to combat Islamophobia.

Pakistan has also launched a series of memorabilia as well as mementos to commemorate the auspicious occasion. These include flags, wall hangings, calligraphies, and badges.
It is a great honor for Pakistan to host the 48th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers and bring the representatives of the Islamic World together on one platform.

During the session, Pakistan being the chair, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan addressed the extraordinary conference. He thanked all the visiting envoys for coming to Pakistan to take part in the 48th OIC CFM.
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan is also attending the event. Moreover, the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi is attending the OIC session for the first time upon invitation in the capacity of the Chinese Foreign Minister.

The Secretary-General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha also addressed the 48th OIC CFM. In addition, the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Niger, Hassoumi Massaoudou delivered a speech.
It is pertinent to note here that Niger is the Chair of the previous session of the Council of Foreign Ministers. Hassoumi Massaoudou said that “eradicating poverty and ensuring stability in our society will not be achieved until we translate our determination to achieve the slogan of the current session: Partnership to build unity, justice, and development.”
Other dignitaries attending the event will also be speaking according to the theme of the session which is; Building Partnerships for Unity, Justice, and Development.
