Grodno, 30 July 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus, Sajjad Haider Khan is on a working visit to Grodno Oblast of Belarus.
Purpose of the visit
The Ambassador visited the city to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Belarus. He visited a number of places around the city from enterprises to universities.
The purpose of these visits is to look for possible opportunities to develop cooperation between the two countries in different domains.
As part of his trip to Grodno Oblast, the Pakistani Ambassador visited Grodno Azot and Grodno Medical University and is likely to visit Conte Spa, Grodno Tobacco Factory, Lidselmash, and Smorgon Aggregate Plant too.
Ambassador’s Meeting with Grodno Governor
Sajjad Haider started his visit to Grodno with an official meeting with the Governor of Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Karanik.

The Ambassador discussed increasing collaborations in different domains like trade, culture, and education. Sajjad Haider informed the Governor about the potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus, especially between the cities of Karachi and Grodno.
He also bought into attention the issue of the renewal of the agreement between Karachi and Grodno. The agreement was signed in 2015 between the government of Sindh and the Regional Executive Committee of Grodno, Belarus.
It focused on trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural-humanitarian collaboration between the two. The Ambassador said that once the agreement is resumed, the concerned departments would see the places it is lacking and try to develop in these areas.
Vladimir Karanik also expressed that Belarus is also looking forward to cooperating with Pakistan. Furthermore, he said that Pakistan is a friendly country with good industrial potential. He also listed the products from Belarus that are in demand in Pakistan.
The Governor of the Regional Executive Committee explained that the development of humanitarian ties helps in the promotion of friendship and interpersonal interaction between people.

Consequently, Sajjad Haider Khan explained his participation in the festival of national cultures in Grodno. Furthermore, he promised that Pakistan will take part in the festival in the coming year.

Moreover, he also discussed organizing joint cultural events and exhibitions in Belarus that will help make cultural ties stronger between the two states.
Ambassador’s visit to Grodno State Medical University
The Ambassador of Pakistan also paid a visit to Grodno Medical University. His visit to the university was to develop education cooperation between Pakistan and the University.
He also met with the heads of the university. Sajjad Haider met first Vice-Rector Vitaly Vorobyov, Head of International Cooperation, Oksana Mozalevich, and Dean of the Faculty for foreign students.

He discussed the possibility of providing medical education to Pakistani students in the university. He said that Pakistani students like to study in other countries.
Likewise, with the joint cooperation between the two states, many students can get a chance to learn at Grodno Medical University.
Moreover, he also praised the university leaders for providing high-quality education. It was due to this reason that 1200 foreign students from 33 countries are studying at Grodno Medical University.
The Ambassador also explained that about 122 Pakistani students have studied at the Grodno Medical University.

Visit to Grodno Azot
The Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus also visited Grodno Azot on Saturday. Grodno Azot is one of the largest enterprises in Belarus. It is an open joint-stock company. It produces a number of chemicals and fertilizers.

The enterprise covers the needs of the domestic agricultural complex in nitrogen fertilizers and also produces chemicals like caprolactam and methanol.
