Pakistan Navy Ship TAIMUR on Maiden Visit to Cambodia

Sihanoukville, 30 July 2022 (TDI): The Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) TAIMUR made goodwill and flag-showing journey to Sihanoukville, Cambodia. It is a maiden visit to Cambodia by any vessel of the Pakistan Navy (PN).

PNS TAIMUR is a Type 054 A/P frigate, PNS Taimur. It was commissioned in a ceremony that took place at the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai, China, on June 23, 2022.

PNS TAIMUR was warmly welcomed by the representatives of the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia, the Cambodian Navy, as well as the Pakistani Embassy in Cambodia, upon arrival in Sihanoukville.

Captain Yasir Tahir, the commanding officer of PNS Taimur, met with the Deputy Governor of Sihanoukville along with the Commander of the Naval Base while in port.

Issues pertaining to maritime security and topics of mutual interest were deliberated upon between the two sides, during the meeting.

Captain Yasir Tahir conveyed the best wishes of Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), for the people of Cambodia in general and the Cambodian Navy in particular.

Pakistan Navy

Commander of the Ream Naval Base, Deputy Commander of Royal Cambodian Air Force, Deputy Commander Royal Cambodian Army, and other high officials from the Government of Cambodia visited onboard PNS TAIMUR.

Ream Naval Base is an installation managed by the Royal Cambodian Navy. It is located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand in the province of Sihanoukville.

Visiting dignitaries were informed regarding the Pakistan Navy’s role in Indian Ocean Region (IOR) as well as its training abilities. Officers of the Royal Cambodian Navy likewise visited the ship and witnessed naval drills.

The visit of PNS TAIMUR provided an opportunity to further improve the current close diplomatic relations and amicable ties between the two friendly countries.
