Dili, 21 February 2024 (TDI): To strengthen diplomatic relations, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Timor Leste, Ameer Khurram Rathore, presented his diplomatic credentials to Jose Ramos Horta, President of the Republic of Timor Leste, on February 19th.
In the course of this encounter, the Ambassador passed on best wishes from the leadership of Pakistan. By way of reply, President Jose Ramos Horta graciously returned the warm sentiments.
On Tuesday, the newly appointed Pakistan’s Ambassador to Timor Leste, Ameer Khurram Rathore, met with Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao to discuss Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and supporting Timor Leste’s national development vision.
We are looking forward to deepening our relationship between Pakistan and Timor Leste. Ameer Khurram Rathore, Envoy with Exceptional Authority of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, residing in Jakarta and Indonesia, told reporters at the government place in Dili.
Ambassador Ameer Khurram Rathore presented his Credentials to H.E. Jose Ramos Horta, President of the Republic of Timor Leste.
He conveyed warm regards from the leadership of Pakistan. President Jose Ramos Horta graciously reciprocated the sentiments.

The Ambassador ensures his availability and support for the Timorese government in order to implement the country’s vision and expedite the process of national development.
“I would be very happy to play whatever little role I can play in implementing the Prime Minister’s vision and strengthening our bilateral relations,” he said.
Pakistan played a crucial role in the peacekeeping force operations in East Timor and contributed to the country’s transition from East Timor to Timor Leste.

The current population of the Pakistani community living and residing in Timor Leste is made up of more than 100 Pakistani businessmen.
“I hope that more Pakistanis will come to Timor-Leste for business and tourism activities. To deepen our bilateral relationship, Prime Minister Gusmao has instructed me on certain areas where we can collaborate further,” he added.
Concurrently, Rathore also met with the Minister of Defense, Donaciano do Rosário Gomes, and Pedro Klamar Fuik to discuss fortifying ties between the two countries in the defense sector.
The Minister of Defense appreciated the visit of the Pakistani Ambassador, saying that the visit was significant for defining the priorities of defense cooperation between the two countries.
