Islamabad, 2 December 2021 (TDI): Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has instructed the concerned authorities to complete the projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Imran Khan presided over the meeting to review the progress of the CPEC projects. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on the CPEC Affairs Khalid Mansoor and other federal ministers also attended the meeting. Khalid Mansoor briefed Imran Khan about the recent development in the CPEC.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, 1 December 2021 in Islamabad. He stressed that the timelines specified for the CPEC projects should be followed strictly. He emphasized that the Pakistani government is fully committed to the provisions of CPEC agreements.
The completion of projects on time will deepen the mutual trust
The Pakistani Prime Minister highlighted that China has been Pakistan’s time-tested friend. China will be always a priority of Pakistan in its foreign policy, he added. He stated that the completion of the CPEC projects is the first-most priority of the Pakistani government. He stressed that the completion of the project on time will further strengthen the relationship between the two sides. It will also help to deepen the mutual trust, added Imran Khan.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin responded to the Pakistani Prime Minister’s statement that his remarks emphasize the all-weather friendship of China and Pakistan. He stated that CPEC is an important project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Wang Wenbin underlined that CPEC has made key contributions to the economic development of Pakistan. It has created myriad employment opportunities in Pakistan, he added. He appreciated the instruction of the Pakistani Prime Minister to complete the CPEC projects on time.
CPEC is the flagship project of the BRI that aims to assist Pakistan in its social and economic development. It is a multi-billion dollars project launched by the Chinese government in Pakistan. The CPEC has further strengthened the mutual trust and cooperation of the two ironclad friends.
