Washington DC, 14 September 2023 (TDI): Masood Khan, Pakistani Ambassador to the US, has stressed the need to explore the vast untapped investment potential between Pakistan and the US.

Ambassador Masood Khan also said that profitable business ventures of around 80 US multinational companies have proved that Pakistan is a resilient and rewarding market.

Although, he stated that the current connections between the people of Pakistan and Connecticut State of America in the areas of education, culture, and other areas serve as a very strong basis for further strengthening our links, particularly in the area of business.

The Ambassador suggested that the two sides focus more on fostering economic and investment links in order to capitalize on the recent momentum in Pak-US relations.

These comments were delivered by Ambassador Masood Khan at separate meetings with Connecticut’s senior officials, including Governor Ned Lamont, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, and Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin.

Moreover, the Ambassador Masood Khan is on 2-day visit to the Connecticut State of America, to explore the investment opportunities between Pak-US.

He also said that the United States remains Pakistan’s single largest export destination with two-way trade amounting to USD 11 billion.

During the previous fiscal year, Pakistan’s exports to the United States were USD 8.4 billion.

According to Masood Khan, Pakistan’s commerce with Connecticut might increase thanks to the current trade infrastructure.

According to him, all the mentioned items and services, including surgical tools, hospital and diagnostic equipment, textiles, tech and associated items, and agriculture and agro-based products, may be imported by the state.

He said that businesses, corporations, and investors located in Connecticut may invest in financial technology, e-commerce, the IT ecosystem, chemicals, food, and beverages.

Moreover, he added that in Connecticut State of America, more than 25,000 Pakistani Americans are acting as a bridge between the two communities.

He also thanked Governor Lamont, Lt. Governor Bysiewicz, and Mayor Bronin for their steadfast support of the Pakistani community and for creating an environment that allowed them to flourish and support their country.

According to Governor Ned Lamont, “The two sides can move quickly in mature areas while exploring other possibilities.”

Although, Governor Ned Lamont, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Mayor of Hartford Luke Bronin lauded the contributions of the Pakistani-American community towards the socio-economic progress of Connecticut.

In the end, the two sides also agreed to further their discussions and to depute economic experts to explore opportunities for enhanced trade and investment in Pakistan.
