Pakistan, UK PM discuss regional security

Islamabad, 17 August 2021 (TDI): The Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a telephonic call from the British Prime Minister Boris Jhonson, assesed the pivotal situation in Afghanistan. The swift change in the leadersip and government of Afghanistan presents myriads of security and humanitarian challenges not only for the region but the whole world.

PM Imran Khan articulated that the stability of Afghanistan was of primary importance to the security of Pakistani state and that safe relocation and settlement of all Afghans was critical to this. Special mention of the role of Pkaistan in assisting the safe departure of international diplomat and staff was made.

Lastly, PM Imran Khan ensured the compliance with COVID 19 safety measures and sharing of NCOC data with the UK Government. He also pointed out that Pakistan should be removed from the red list of UK Travel restricted countries.

Both sides decided to continue the correspondence for future developments in the region.
