Pakistan Navy Chief Backs Regional Maritime Security  

Islamabad/Oman (TDI): Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has said that Pakistan Navy is an ardent supporter of the promotion of maritime security with the collaboration of regional countries.

He expressed these remarks during separate meetings with the Minister of the Royal Office of the Sultanate of Oman, Commander Royal Navy of Oman and Commander National Defense College in Oman, a statement said.

The Naval Chief further highlighted the role of Pakistan Navy in preventing piracy and smuggling.

During the meetings, security situation in the Indian Ocean and matters pertaining to the joint defense cooperation came under discussion.

Later, the Naval Chief also visited key facilities, including the Said bin Sultan Naval Base, RNO Ship, Maritime Security Centre, National Defence College, Military Technical College, and Sultan Qaboos Naval Academy.

Pakistan Navy Collaboration with Regional Countries

Pakistan navy is collaborating with regional countries for maritime security to prevent crimes or terrorism in the maritime boundaries.

In this connection, Pakistan Navy ATR Aircraft from the 29 Anti-Submarine Warfare Squadron participated in Exercise MAVI BALINA-2024 at Dalaman in Türkiye.

Exercise MAVI BALINA-2024 is a Turkish-led multinational Anti-Submarine Warfare exercise, involving over 30 platforms, including ships, submarines, aircraft, and UAVs.

The exercise was conducted in the Eastern Mediterranean and aimed at practicing submarine operations and Anti-Submarine Warfare procedures.

An official statement said that Pakistan Navy’s active participation in Exercise underscores its unwavering commitment to fostering relations between the two brotherly countries, Pakistan and Türkiye, and strengthening bonds with leading navies.

Recently, Pakistan Navy has also commissioned its Offshore Patrol Vessel PNS YAMAMA at Constanta Port in Romania.

Addressing a ceremony ion this regard, Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi emphasized the significance of this project and highlighted the additional set of capabilities that PNS YAMAMA brings to Pakistan Navy’s sphere of operations.

He further said that these platforms are designed to enhance full spectrum of Navy’s maritime operations.
