Doha: 6 August 2024: Osama Hamdan, Deputy Public Relations Director of Hamas Political Wing, has said that the possible successor of martyred Ismail Haniyeh will be announced soon.
Interacting with media persons in Doha, on the sidelines of the three-day mourning session, Hamdan said that Hamas is a well-organized organization with strong established systems. After completion of the procedures, a decision in this regard will be made.
Terming the death of Haniyeh as Shahdat, he said that every Muslim’s wish is the death of Shahadat. He praised the assassinated Ismail Haniyeh for his active role in highlighting the plight of Palestinians at the global level.
Hamdan expressed his hope that the unprecedented sacrifices of the Palestinians at the hands of the desperate occupying forces of Israel will not go in vain and Palestine will soon be liberated.
The Hamas leader appealed to all peace-loving people around the world, especially to the members of the Islamic Ummah, to come forward and extend their helping hand in all areas of struggle for Palestine’s liberation.
At the three-day mourning ceremony recently concluded in Doha, thousands of people from different walks of life and of various nationalities, as well as religious scholars, statesmen, and diplomats from various parts of the region, expressed their condolences to Ismail Haniyah’s close family members and the current leadership of Hamas.

A 10-member delegation of the Palestinians Abroad, an international forum of over 7 million overseas Palestinians spread over 50 countries, had also arrived to Doha to attend the funeral and condolence ceremony of Haniyeh.
Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran on July 31. He was in Tehran to attend the inaugural oath-taking ceremony of Iran’s newly-elected President, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Haniyeh, along with his bodyguard was killed by a short-range projectile launched from outside his residence, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has said.
