Beijing, 7 February 2022 (TDI): Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Batmunkh Battsetseg accompanied the Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene for a visit to the People’s Republic of China.

The two are visiting China for the inaugural ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Meetings with various Chinese officials as well Chinese leadership is on the agenda.

Whilst there, the Minister of Foreign Affairs held a meeting with the Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi. During the meeting, the two counterparts discussed certain matters concerning bilateral relations.

At the outset of the meeting, Batmunkh Battsetseg congratulated China for successfully organizing the Olympic Games as scheduled. She expressed her pleasure in meeting the Chinese Foreign Minister.

The two counterparts exchanged views on maintaining high-level visits along with organizing frequent meetings between the heads of state as well as governments of Mongolia, China, & Russia.

In addition, the two ministers also discussed issues pertaining to the acceleration of work for the connection of the border checkpoints of Shiveekhuren-Sekhee, Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod, and Bichig-Zuunkhatavch, by rail.

Moreover, jointly implementing a project on reducing the traffic congestion of Ulaanbaatar city, joining forces against desertification and dust storms, and increasing the export of meat and food products to China were also deliberated upon during the meeting.

Likewise, the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs on his part expressed willingness to provide support in the execution of Mongolia’s ‘One Billion Trees’ national movement along with projects aimed at the reduction of the traffic congestion of Ulaanbaatar.

Wang Yi also pledged to focus on revving the works to connect the railroads and increasing exports between China and Mongolia during the meeting with the Mongolian Foreign Minister.
