Kabul, 05 August 2021 (TDI): In a statement issued on August 4, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly criticized the violence against civilians and expressed deep concern about the outbreak of conflict in Afghanistan and civilian casualties caused by the Taliban.
The organization’s secretariat called for the immediate ceasefire and stated its assistance for the Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace negotiations for a political solution in the statement. Recalling the Organization’s Summit of Foreign Ministers resolutions on peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as the Declaration of the Conference of Islamic Scholars of Mecca, the Organization reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Afghan people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs greets this declaration and urges the OIC to take a more proactive and viable mental in rallying the Islamic world and credible Islamic institutions to end the killings in Afghanistan and hold the Taliban accountable for their atrocities against humanity.
