Foreign Minister of Malaysia, Saifuddin Abdullah attended the Round Table discussion hosted by Riphah University

Islamabad, 20 December 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Saifuddin Abdullah visited Pakistan to attend the Foreign Minister’s Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Whilst in Islamabad, he also visited the Riphah International University.

On the invitation of Vice-Chancellor of Riphah University Professor Dr. Anish Ahmad, Saifuddin Abdullah attended the International University Round Table discussion on “Peaceful Coexistence”. The Malaysian Foreign Minister also delivered a keynote address at the University.

The Round Table discussion encompassed a session with the lecturers and students of the university on Foreign Policy and Peaceful Coexistence.

During the discussion, it was underscored that it is imperative for the Muslim Ummah to work together on common goals for the establishment of peace, security, and prosperity.

The Malaysian Foreign Minister laid emphasis on the need of celebrating unity in diversity. Malaysia is a staunch advocate of peace and prosperity. Foreign Minister Saifuddin was in Pakistan to take part in the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC.

The 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC was hosted by Pakistan on 19th December, on the initiative of Saudi Arabia. The theme of the Summit was to deliberate upon the Afghanistan Crisis as well as look for solutions.

Afghanistan has been facing a humanitarian crisis in the wake of the withdrawal of US forces as well as the prevalent Covid-19 pandemic situation.
