Mexico City, 20 December 2021 (TDI): The Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard welcomed the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Yves Le Drian. Minister Le Drian is currently on his official visit to Mexico. Their meeting occurred on the 19 of December.
The Mexican President, Lopez Obrador will confer the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle on Minister Le Drian. Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle is the highest award of Mexico. The ceremony to award the honor will occur during the stay of the French Minister.
Secretary Ebrard welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France. The French Minister will be awarded to acknowledge his active commitment to the advancement of the bilateral relations between France and Mexico.
Aztec Eagle Award
The Decoration of the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle is the distinction granted to foreigners to recognize the service rendered to the Mexican Nation or Humanity.
Minister Le Drian is to receive the awards to acknowledge his extensive work to strengthen relations and cooperation between both countries in different areas.
For instance, the relaunch of the Franco-Mexican Strategic Council, and the promotion of the incorporation of new issues in the agenda as media and creative industries.
Moreover, he contributed to enhancing ties in the fields of cinematography, climate change, innovation and street furniture, environmental solutions, entrepreneurship, space studies, and agribusiness.
In addition, the creation of the Franco-Mexican Bilingual Technological University of Nuevo Leon was inaugurated in January 2020, and the donation of school supplies to students of the Suave Patria school in Mexico City, a school damaged by an earthquake on 19 September of 2017.
Furthermore, he also facilitated the delivery of 50 thousand Euros to equip the campus with school furniture. During the session, Secretary Ebrard extended the invitation to the French nation to be part of the aerospace Fair of Mexico.
This event is going to be in collaboration with the European Union for the development of science and engineering. Finally, Secretary Ebrard signed a series of agreements at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry.
