Islamabad, 20 December 2021 (TDI): International community should take serious actions on the Cyprus problem. There should be a just resolution of the Cyprus problem with a clear understanding of the realities about the entire issue.
Furthermore, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is grateful to Pakistan for its outstanding support for supporting the real issue. These were the remarks by the visiting Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Foreign Minister Tahsin ErtugruloÄźlu while speaking to a Press Conference at the TRNC Representative Office here in Islamabad today.
Foreign Minister Tahshin is in Islamabad to attend the OIC Extraordinary Session on Afghanistan. He highlighted that OIC has passed several resolutions to urge the international community to resolve Cyprus’ issue. However, so far these efforts have proved to be futile.
Foreign Minister said that TRNC is grateful to Pakistan for its support of the Cyprus issue. He further stated that the rest of the Muslim world has yet to pay due attention to the difficulties and challenges of the Turkish Cypriots.
While speaking and highlighting the Cyprus conflict, Foreign Minister shared the TRNC’s new approach toward the Cyprus issue. He said that the international community has made the entire diagnosis wrong about the Cyprus conflict.
There is a strong need to fully understand the realities and then move ahead with better and balanced action. Cyprus has two states; the Greek Cyprus and Turkish Cyprus. This is how this should be considered as a state now.
He further added that unless and until Turkish Cypriots will not be considered as the equal party to this entire conflict, all the resolutions or any analysis will stand unacceptable.
International Community, United Nations, OIC, and other important international organizations should take the required action, especially keeping in view the sensitivity of the matters.
