New York, 25 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Ruslan Kazakbaev met officials of various countries. These meetings took place on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
The Kyrgyz Minister met with the Foreign Minister of Thailand, Don Pramudwinai. The parties discussed the prospect of bilateral cooperation. Minister Kazabaev made a proposal to establish a Kyrgyz-Thai Intergovernmental Commission in trade, cultural and humanitarian areas. Kyrgyz Minister requested to consider the possibility of early ratification of the agreement. Moreover, an agreement was reached to maintain contacts on a number of key issues of cooperation.
Kyrgyz Foreign Minister also met the Foreign Minister of Finland, Pekka Olavi Haavisto. Both sides discussed issues of the development of bilateral cooperation. Particularly, Minister Haavisto highlighted the importance of developing trade relations between both countries. Also, Minister Kazakbaev invited a high-level delegation from Finland to take part in the work of the First European Union-Central Asia Economic Forum.
Kyrgyz Foreign Minister held an informal meeting with his Italian Counterpart, Luigi Di Maio. The parties discussed plans to exchange high-level visits. Minister Kazakbayev invited his counterpart to visit the First EU-CA Economic Forum. Moreover, both parties discussed the participation in the Ministerial meeting “Central Asia-Italy” this year.
Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer. They talked about ICRC’s assistance in the repatriation of children-citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic from Syria. The head of the ICRC expressed the Organization’s full readiness to provide assistance. Also, closer interaction of the ICRC office in Bishkek with the Kyrgyz side.
Kyrgyz Foreign Minister also met the Georgian Foreign Minister, David Zalkaliani. Both Parties noted the necessity of regular meetings of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. Moreover, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister also invited the delegation of Georgia to monitor the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan. The Georgian side supported Kyrgyzstan’s initiatives to develop inter-regional cooperation. Both parties exchanged views on the schedule of reciprocal high and top-level visits.
