Kuwait, 29 December 2021 (TDI): Yesterday, Kuwaiti Emir, Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad approved the formation of a new cabinet. The latter would be led by the current Prime Minister of Kuwait.
Expressed in order of the Amiri Diwan, Kuwait Shaikh Nawaf acknowledged the importance of renewing the Kuwaiti government. He took the decision seeking effectivity within the cabinet duties.
Important Antecedents of Former Government
During the era of Emir Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad, he installed a new government in December last year. However, the cabinet resigned in January 2021. Consequently, the Emir elected a new Kuwaiti government in March, but they resigned again in November.
In this sense, Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad al-Sabah approved by decree the creation of a new ministerial cabinet made up of 15 people. He, amid the political tensions between the executive and legislative branches, leads the discussion in search of harmony.
Thus, the Kuwaiti Emir has been sponsoring the national reconciliation dialogue between the parties to end up the conflict of interest. Nevertheless, the Parliament’s opposition and their corruption and lack of capacity accusations against the executive is a last long appeasement process.
New Kuwaiti Cabinet
Despite this fact, the former cabinet stepped down their functions without specifying their motives. So that, the Emir of Kuwait renewed the lead of Prime Minister Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber al Sabah.
In this way, Prime Minister attended a meeting with the Emir at Dar Yamamah. He proposed a shortlist of names to Kuwait’s Emir to form the cabinet. The Emir accepted it and wished the best to Al Ahmad Al Jaber al Sabah in his mission to serve the Kuwait population.
Therefore, the cabinet formation is the following; Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Sabah as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. Also, Ahmad Mansour is the Minister of Defense.
Besides, Mohammad Abdullatif is Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable energy. In addition, Issa Ahmad and Ahmad Nasser are Ministers of Islamic and Foreign and Cabinet Affairs, respectively.
Likewise, there are Rana Abdullah in the Ministry of Communication, Ali Fahat in the Ministry of Education, and Jamal Hadhel as Minister of Justice. Similarly, Hamad Ahmad is the new Minister of Information, while Khaled Mhawes and Abduwahab Mohammad head the Ministries of Health and Economic Affairs, as appropriate.
Furthermore, Ali Hussein is the Minister of Public Works; Fahad Mutlaq is the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Mubarak Zaid represents the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Kuwait is one of the few countries where Parliament is democratically elected. Therefore, the ministerial cabinet safeguards the public interests of the State at the international level.
International Community Recognition
The governments of Iraq and Bahrain congratulated the Emir for his decision to form a new cabinet. Iraqi President Barham, for example, expressed his sincere congratulations to the Emir for his leadership.
On his part, Bahrain Crown Prince called Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad al-Sabah to wish Kuwait further progress and prosperity within the new government. Kuwaiti Emir expressed appreciation for his counterparts’ best desires. He also showed his deepest gratitude by wishing good health and success for both mandatories.
