Amman, 24 September 2021 (TDI): The Jordanian Monarch, King Abdullah virtually attended the Global COVID-19 Summit. The Summit was hosted by Joe Biden, the President of the US. It expanded upon the theme of eradicating the pandemic. During the Summit, King Abdullah highlighted Jordan’s efforts to inoculate everyone against Covid-19, indiscriminately.
Whilst addressing the Summit through a recorded message, he underscored the significance of a joint effort to tackle the pandemic. He called for a cohesive international response to alleviate the challenges imposed by diseases like Covid-19 on the economic, humanitarian, and health sectors. According to him, it’s paramount to eradicate the pandemic through coordinated efforts. Moreover, it is the responsibility of the international community to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine for building global immunity.
The virtual summit was attended by various heads of state and leaders of international organizations. The agenda of the summit was to discuss worldwide efforts to counter Covid-19. It was held to aid in immunizing 70% of the global populace within a year. Lastly, the US President announced a series of measures to help achieve the aforementioned goal.
