The President of United States Donald Trump announced on social media platform X that Pakistan and India have agreed on a ceasefire.
He wrote, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that Pakistan and India have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.”
The ceasefire comes when the fears of a full blown war between the two nuclear-armed states have reached their heights.

Following Pakistan’s launch of Operation Bunyan un Marsoos on in the early morning hours today, many countries were in touch with both India and Pakistan to help diffuse tensions and convince them to deescalate.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been in regular communication with leaders from both Pakistan and India, offering to facilitate constructive talks aimed at de-escalating the situation.
Notably, Marco Rubio has spoken with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, offering US assistance to facilitate negotiations.
The Group of Seven (G7) countries also urged both India and Pakistan to engage in direct dialogue to reduce hostilities. They emphasized the importance of diplomatic solutions over military actions.
“We urge maximum restraint from both sides,” the G7 said, warning that “further military escalation poses a grave threat to the peace and stability in the region.”
Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and China were also among the countries who were asking both sides to practice restraint for the sake of regional peace.
