Hanif Atmar held a conference with Foreign Representatives

Kabul, 3 August 2021 (TDI) On Tuesday, Haneef Atmar, Foreign Minister of Afghanistan held a meeting with Diplomats, Representatives of Afghanistan’s neighbor countries and the UN to discuss issues regarding the security situation in Afghanistan and highlight International Community’s role in bringing peace and development to Afghanistan

Haneef Atmar briefed the participants of the Conference about recent Taliban attacks in Afghanistan which killed more than 3000 people while creating severe humanitarian crises for 18 million people, throwing Afghanistan into disarray. He told that the Taliban, after the abrupt pullout of US troops, have reinforced themselves with 10,000 terrorists from the neighboring countries. With that, he informed the Foreign Representatives that the Government has formulated efficient plans for ratcheting up defense and security of Afghanistan. He also stressed that the cooperation of the International Community with Afghanistan is crucial for bringing peace in the country and subsequently the Globe.

The Participants of the meeting showed full support from their countries to Afghanistan in fighting against the menace of the Taliban. The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative, Deborah Lyons showed concern on the recent Taliban attack on the UN office in Herat and reaffirmed that peace in Afghanistan is consequential for the whole world.
