Greece Prime Minister met UK’s Prime Minister

London, 21 November 2021 (TDI):  Boris Johnson, United Kingdom Prime Minister warmly received the Greece Prime Minister at his visit to Downing Street. UK and Greece agreed issues cannot affect the strength of the bilateral partnership.

The two leaders emphasized the value of UK and Greece relations. They highlighted it then at the 200th anniversary of Greece’s war of independence from the Ottman Empire. Both countries are ready to invest and boost Trade, Education, and Tourism. This intends to boost bilateral relations of both countries. 

The Prime Ministers of the UK and Greece shared their content over the fact that their countries’ vaccine unrolls enabled them to resume the travel between the UK and Greece.

Cop26 Summit & Commitment for Zero -Carbon of Greece

Greece Prime Minister Mitsotakis was pleased with the success of the COP26 Summit over climate change challenges. He welcomed the international community over the commitment to reach net-zero carbon discharge.

The leaders discussed the significance and also regarding the use of technology and renewable sources for clean energy.

The UK Concerns over EU Protocols for  Northern Ireland 

Boris Johnson informed about the UK’s concerns over the European Union Protocols about Northern Ireland as recently implemented. The Prime Minister highlighted, there are pivotal differences among our perceptions and also positions. Both leaders agree to search out ways for consensual solutions.

Both leaders discussed the current situations of Cyprus, Libya, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. The Leaders shared concerns about Bosnia and Herzegovina then.

Both leaders emphasized reaching a sustainable solution with all parties over Cyprus.

The Parthenon Sculptures in Greece

Greece Prime Minister Mitsotakis showed his stress about the Parthenon Sculptures issue. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said he can understand the strong feelings of the Greek people about it. This issue is amongst the trustees of the British Museum. The UK’s position over it is a longstanding and also historic one.

The Parthenon Sculptures are collections of the different types of marble architectural decorations. That belonged to the temple of Athena (The Parthenon) on the Acropolis in Athens and was made between 447BC to 432BC then. 

At the end of the meeting, then the leaders mutually decided that this issue in no way disturbs the bilateral partnership and cooperation between the United Kingdom and Greece.
