Kabul, 11 August 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, Ghulam M. Isaczai, Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations, had a meeting with Ilze Brands Kehris, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Human Rights. Both parties stressed the importance of the UN in peace efforts and the pursuit of a long-term solution.
Isaczai provided the Assistant Secretary-General with an update on the ongoing security and human rights violations caused by Taliban offensives. He also highlighted practical steps the UN may take to address these violations, particularly those affecting women’s rights.
