Oslo, 11 August 2021 (TDI): Remittances from Norway to Pakistan in July 2021 amounted to approximately $10.3 million. It is a significant amount from a country with almost 5.3 million inhabitants. Norway is the fourth significant country that is a source of remittances for Pakistan in Europe.
This is the second-highest ever level of remittances that were reported in the month of July. In terms of growth, remittances increased by 0.7% as compared to the last month of June albeit a decline of almost 2.1% as of last year. According to the State Bank of Pakistan, for the 14th consecutive month remittances were above $2 billion in July at $2.7 billion. They were higher than June last year despite a slight decrease of $57 million as compared to July 2020.
