Beijing (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, highlighted the ever-strengthening Pakistan-China relations and the impressive socio-economic strides made by Xinjiang region, during an exchange meeting with diplomatic envoys organized by the regional government on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr.
In his address, Ambassador Hashmi said that Pakistan-China relationship had deep roots in strategic partnership whereby Islamabad remained committed to enhancing all aspects of bilateral engagements with Beijing.
He commended economic development in Xinjiang, saying that its vast potential can enhance regional connectivity.
He highlighted how recent connectivity milestones between Pakistan and China include opening the land border for year-round accessibility and increased trade and tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
This is expected to stimulate economic activities and promote the movement of people across borders, the envoy said.
The event was attended by diplomats from various countries, underlining Xinjiang’s growing role in regional connectivity.

Pakistan and China share an all-weather strategic partnership based on mutual respect, along with common regional interests.
This has transformed over the decades from diplomatic camaraderie to even a comprehensive relationship of economic, defence and cultural cooperation.
The two countries continue to support each other on both regional and global platforms, calling for peace, stability and development.
CPEC is a key project under what the world came to know as China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) that dramatically enhanced the bilateral ties.

CPEC opened the door to infrastructure, industrial development and energy cooperation, which will in turn change the economic landscape of Pakistan.
Aside from economic issues, defense and security cooperation are key elements in Pakistan-China relations.
Joint military exercises, dedicated partnerships based on defense production, and cooperation in counterterrorism are areas of close defense ties between the two countries.
