Aman, 21 December 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, attended the 17th Extraordinary Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister met with colleagues from Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Bahrain, Turkey, among others, on the sidelines of the OIC Summit. Ayman Sadafi, on behalf of the Arab Group, urgently called for humanitarian support to the Afghan people.

 

17th Extraordinary session sidelines

On the occasion of the 17th Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC, the Minister of Jordan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey to discuss relevant strategies to improve bilateral relations. Both pointed out the importance of regional developments and the joint approach of their countries.

Besides that, the Jordan Foreign Minister participated in a discussion with Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, to talk about their collective efforts to strengthen their relations in a cooperative regional framework. 

In addition to that,  the Jordanian Foreign Minister participated in a discussion with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani to discuss their collective efforts to strengthen their relations in a cooperative regional framework.

Moreover, Ayman Sadafi met with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister to acknowledge both historical ties. Furthermore, in a bilateral meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Jordan and Iran also emphasized the importance of their relations in preserving peace in the region.

Furthermore, Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reunited with Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Foreign Minister of Pakistan, to highlight their state’s commitment to work in advance with cooperation. Thus, Ayman Sadafi congratulated Pakistan’s hosting skills and thanked them for their hospitality.

Nevertheless, Jordan’s Foreign Minister also converged on a side meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths. 

They both addressed topics regarding Afghanistan humanitarian crisis and Jordan’s knowledge and performance in the matter. Also, during the side gathering and the OIC Summit, the results in the discussion are about preventing Afghanistan from collapsing into irreparable chaos.

In this regard, Jordan’s efforts are related to its participation as a host country for refugees. For example, Jordan develops effectively in 3 main areas to contribute to humanitarian action. 

First, in humanitarian coordination inside and outside the region to improve decision-making. Second, on humanitarian funding and cost-effective resource allocation. Third and last regarding early warning and risk prevention through United Nations interagency planning.

Therefore, Jordan’s participation at the UN in the humanitarian field is valuable. Especially regarding addressing refugees’ needs from Syria and Palestine. Thus, Jordan’s work summarizes in leaving no one behind.
