Algiers, 17 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Algeria Ramtane Lamamra met with the Vice-President of Libyan Presidential Council Moussa Al-Koni.

As the Vice-President of the Libyan Council reached Algiers he was greeted warmly by the Foreign Minister of Algier Ramtane Lamamra. Moussa Al-Koni is on a visit to Algeria because he has been told to deliver a message to the President of the Republic.

In the past Algeria has been the country that is concerned with the developments of Libya. However, close adherence to the doctrine of no interference has confined Algeria’s role in the affairs of its neighbors. On the other hand, Libya’s instability has an important regional dimension that affects the international relations of Mediterranean Africa. Once again Libya has started discussions with Algeria and this seems to be a positive sign. The strained relations between the two countries can only be strengthened if they both work towards a prosperous future.

The Foreign Minister of Algeria Ramtane Lamamra was very energetic and hopeful when he received the Moussa Al Koni and he was quick to express his aspiration to having more of such meetings with the officials of Libya. According to the Foreign Minister of Libya, these meetings are important because they promote consultation and coordination that is required to put forward joint efforts to initiate cooperation once again. Ramtane Lamamra believes this is indeed a great step towards cooperation and good relations with Libya.
