EU Ambassador meets Interim Health Minister

Islamabad, 29 August 2023(TDI): Rina Kivanka, European Union Ambassador, held a meeting with Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan in a diplomatic exchange of views on Friday.

They deliberated on healthcare matters and shared concerns of mutual interest in the meeting.

The ambassador congratulated the Health Minister for taking on the role of caretaker federal minister.

“The world appreciates the services of Dr. Nadeem Jan in efforts to eradicate polio,” the European Union ambassador expressed her thoughts.

Dr. Nadeem Jan appreciated the Pakistan-EU relationship.

“The European Union provided full support in the rehabilitation of the flood victims,” Dr. Nadeem Jan expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the European Union.

“The eradication of polio is the topmost priority of the caretaker government; the health ministry is in contact with Afghanistan for a joint integrated strategy at the border to eliminate polio,” said the federal minister.

A high-level meeting on the Global Health Security Agenda will be hosted by Pakistan shortly.

Participants from around the globe, including experts and stakeholders, will engage in the meeting.

The European Union ambassador will also be invited to participate in the Global Health Security Summit.

The European Union Ambassador commended tangible actions taken regarding the Global Health Security Agenda.

The week before, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani held a meeting with Dr. Riina Kionka, the EU Ambassador to Pakistan.

They deliberated on the Pakistan-EU relationship and matters of shared concern in the meeting.

The ambassador and the interim foreign minister expressed satisfaction, highlighting the favorable direction of bilateral ties between Pakistan and the European Union.

With a mutual dedication to cultivating stronger connections, they explored pathways to elevate collaboration across multiple domains.

The meeting covered a range of topics that both Pakistan and the EU were concerned about, showcasing the depth of their engagement.

Additionally, matters concerning both the local region and the global arena were deliberated in that meeting.
