Banjul, 10 October 2023 (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador Saima Sayed made an official visit to The Gambia, during which she formally presented her credentials to Dr. Mamadou Tangara, the Foreign Minister of The Gambia on October 6.
Ambassador Saima Sayed also holds concurrent accreditation to The Gambia.
During their meeting, Ambassador Sayed engaged in a comprehensive discussion with the Gambian Foreign Minister, addressing all facets of the close bilateral relations between Pakistan and The Gambia.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate on finalizing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) that are already in the process of consideration and to actively explore new opportunities for cooperation.
Foreign Minister Tangara underscored the constructive and beneficial contributions of the Pakistani diaspora residing in The Gambia.
He extended an invitation to Pakistani entrepreneurs and business leaders to visit The Gambia, to strengthen trade and economic partnerships.
Dr. Tangara also noted the consistent involvement of Gambian diplomats in courses offered by the Foreign Service Academy (FSA) of Pakistan.
The Permanent Secretary (Foreign Secretary) of the Gambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared that he, too, is an alumnus of FSA in Islamabad.
Foreign Minister Tangara conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Pakistani Justice Ali Nawaz Chohan, who had previously served as Chief Justice of The Gambia from February 2014 to May 2015 and had been appointed as the Honorary Consul of The Gambia in Islamabad just last year.

Foreign Minister Tangara expressed the intention to nominate a new Honorary Consul for The Gambia in Pakistan.
Ambassador Saima Sayed conveyed the Government of Pakistan’s best wishes for the upcoming OIC Summit scheduled to take place in The Gambia in December 2023.
She also reaffirmed Pakistan’s wholehearted support for the government of The Gambia in organizing this significant event.
