New York, 22 September 2021 (TDI): Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets attends the opening week of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly held from September 20-24.
Liimets is honoured to participate in a significant number of discussions to address the critical topics of global politics with other leaders.
On behalf of Estonia, Liimets stated that her country prioritized security and understood challenges that affect their country. As Estonia is a small state, she reiterated that the government can be a respected participant and initiator in the international arena.
Liimets mentioned that Estonia was the first to introduce cybersecurity into the official agenda of the UN Security Council.
The assembly gathers heads of state and government, ministers, and representatives of international organizations worldwide. To uphold international peace and security, protect human rights, and encourage global economic and social development. Other meetings are held virtually.
