President of European Commission congratulates Justin Trudeau

Brussels, 22 September 2021 (TDI): Ursula Von der Leyen, President of European Commission, congratulates Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister on securing third election victory.

According to President Von der Leyen, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s re-election provides a chance to strengthen their unique partnership even further. As they share similar ideals and believe that multiculturalism is essential for addressing today’s global issues. President Von der Leyen added that Prime Minister Trudeau will always have friends in Brussels.

The Liberal Party of Justin Trudeau won the third election. The Canadian Prime Minister’s party won 158 of 338 electoral districts, while the Conservatives gained 119 seats. Trudeau would seek support from groups including leftist New Democrats and the separatist Bloc Quebecois, which received 25 and 34 seats, respectively.
