Pakistan's Envoy Tirmizi Presents Credentials to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister

Moscow (TDI): Pakistan’s newly-appointed ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, presented his credentials to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko in Moscow, marking the formal commencement of his tenure.

The presentation took place at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Tirmizi conveyed Pakistan’s strong interest in deepening its partnership with the Russian Federation across multiple domains.

He emphasized that Pakistan regards its relationship with Russia as “extremely important” and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing cooperation in political, trade, educational, and cultural fields.

Deputy Minister Rudenko welcomed Ambassador Tirmizi and expressed confidence that the new Pakistani appointment would usher in a new phase of bilateral ties.

He reiterated Russia’s readiness to work closely with Pakistan to elevate their partnership to new heights. The two sides pledged to redouble efforts toward stronger collaboration.

Ambasasdor Tirmizi assumes his diplomatic assignment at a crucial time when global and regional dynamics are shifting and both Moscow and Islamabad seek to diversify their alliances and deepen strategic engagements.

Pakistan in particular has been pursuing a more proactive foreign policy, balancing its historical ties and exploring enhanced links with Russia. Meanwhile, Russia is looking toward the South Asian region for new economic and political partnerships.

Ambassador Tirmizi’s mandate includes advancing trade and investment initiatives, bolstering educational exchanges, cultural cooperation, and reinforcing political alignment on regional security matters.

Prior to Russia, Ambassador Tirmizi has been on multiple foreign diplomatic assignments; in Ashgabat (1996-1999), Geneva-UN (2003-2006) and Abu Dhabi (2007-2010).

He also served as Consul General, Chicago from 2013-2018 and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan from 2018-2019. His last assignment was again in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as Pakistan’s ambassador to the country.
