Karachi (TDI): The Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi hosted the World Culture Festival, a vibrant celebration coinciding with the UAE’s 54th National Day Eid Al Etihad.
The festival highlighted Emirati culture, cuisine and heritage, underscoring decades of cultural and diaspora ties between the two nations. The evening on December 3rd featured traditional Emirati dishes, music and dance as part of the festival’s second edition.
Pakistan and the UAE have maintained close diplomatic and economic relations for decades, supported by extensive labor, trade and cultural heritage.
Dr Bakheet Ateeq Alrehmeithi, Consul General of the UAE in Karachi, stated that “The relationship between the UAE and Pakistan goes a long way. Every year, we collaborate with the Arts Council to further that relationship.”
The show included cultural artifacts, traditional sweets and live performances. With the help of a local team, a UAE-based chef, Mainuddin, prepared a lot of dishes for attendees. The menu featured Balaleet, Chebab, Khobesa, and Harees, a traditional dish brought on popular demand.

Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah stated that “Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto shared a very cordial relationship,”referring to the UAE’s founding president and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister.
A special emphasis on the cultural similarities between the two nations. Karachi drew a big crowd, reflecting a bond between the two nations that thrives beyond official diplomacy within community, cuisine and shared celebration.
Shah mentioned that such cultural partnerships reinforce people-to-people relations and emphasized how “Pakistan has both economic as well as cultural interests in the UAE, as Pakistanis make up a huge population of the UAE. Hence, these cultural exchanges are really important.”
