San Salvador, 24 November 2022 (TDI): El-Salvador is hosting an event for competitors around the world in surfing at the Oriente Salvaje beaches. The competition is brought by ALAS (Latin American Association of Professional Surfers).

ALAS is back in El-Salvador with the “ALAS Pro Tour 2022 Tournament” for the closing of the 2021-2022 season of the continental circuit, to crown the champion of the Americas.

This will also define the qualification of athletes for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. This tournament is organized by the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (Corsatur), with the support of ALAS and public institutions of El Salvador.

The institutions from the government and public sector include the Ministry of Tourism and the Salvadoran Institute of Tourism and the Ministry of Health, FOSALUD (Solidarity Fund for Health), and Emergency Medical Services.

The Presidency of the Republic also welcomed this tournament to take place in the state. Along with this, other ministries that provided support for the tournament include the Ministry of Defense, Armed Forces, Naval Forces, and Air Forces.

Likewise, the Ministry of Justice and Security, National Civil Police and Directorate of Penal Centers, Ministry of the Interior, and Civil Protection and Fire Department of El Salvador are also supporting it.

Moreover, efforts by the Ministry of Public Works, Culture Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Customs, General Directorate of Migration and Immigration, and Autonomous Port Executive Commission, are also recognized.

Surfing Tournament

113 athletes from 15 countries are participating in the competition of surfing for the prize money of $60,000. The categories for the competition include Open Men, junior, and Longboard categories.

A Surf City has been established by El-Salvador at Las Flores beach for tourists and competitors from around the globe. The security of the people visiting and athletes participating in the tournament is been given prime importance.

EL-Salvador has excelled at the organizational level to receive athletes from 15 countries in the wild east of this Central American nation. The tournament will be broadcasted live.
