Commandant of US Marine Corps on visit to Philippines

Manila, 14 September 2021 (TDI): Commandant of US Marine Corps General David Berger set for two days tour of the Philippines on 10 September 2021. During his visit, General Berger met with the officials of the US Embassy and senior military officials of the Philippines.

In his two days visit, the commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps General Berger emphasized the significance of the USA-Philippine alliance in maintaining stability and peace in the Pacific region.

This visit marks the first visit of the U.S. Marine Corps to the Philippines since 2017. Utilizing the opportunity of the visit, General Berger also highlighted the bilateral exercises such as Kamandag and Balikatan between the US and the Phillippine that are expected in the future.

Commandant of the USA, Marine Corps General Berger also remarked that the visit is very significant for him as he met with the senior armed officials of the Philippines in person. He stated that the defense cooperation between the US and the Philippines is the foundation of their seventy years-long partnership.
