Inter-Parliamentary Union
The IPU is the global organization of national parliaments.
In 1889, it began as a small group of parliamentarians to promote peace through parliamentary diplomacy, negotiations, and dialogue.
Today, it has since grown into a truly global organization with 181 members and 15 Associate Members.
The IPU’s mission is to promote democratic governance, institutions and values, working with parliaments and parliamentarians to articulate and respond to the needs and aspirations of the people.
They seek to promote peace, democracy, youth empowerment, climate action, gender equality and sustainable development through peaceful dialogues and negotiations.
