New York, 3 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Zhang Jun has urged the international community for firm actions against climate change.
In addressing #ClimateChange, what we need is firm commitment and continued actions.
What we don’t need:
-Empty slogans
-Ever-changing policies
-Luxury motorcades and entourage
-Irresponsibly exposing numerous people to infection— Zhang Jun (@ChinaAmbUN) November 2, 2021
He expressed his commitments to addressing climate change in a tweet which he tweeted yesterday. The Ambassador emphasized that the need of the time is to take solid actions instead of just creating slogans for Climate Change. He stressed that the world is facing unprecedented challenges. Therefore, we don’t need empty slogans. He highlighted that world should not show irresponsibility in this highly sensitive issue. We should not waste time in changing policies time after time. Instead, we should follow our path with solid actions to deal with the climate change challenges.
The Chinese ambassador to the UN also emphasized the Chinese President’s address to the Conference of Parties on Climate Change in Glasgow, England. He said that the Chinese delegation attended the conference in person. The Chinese delegation disclosed Chinese plans to achieve carbon peak and neutrality goals. They also announced the Chinese Action Plan to counter climate change. He said that Chinese actions are admired by the international community.
Zhang Jun further stated that China has been one of the biggest supporters of Climate Action. He stressed that China has been committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement. The international community should see who is trying to abandon Climate Action by withdrawing from Paris Agreement unilaterally. He urged the United States to stay committed to Climate Action for sustainable development in the world and to come over the challenges of Climate Change.
