Islamabad, 31 October 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Nong Rong met the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives of Pakistan, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, on Monday.
The agenda of the meeting was to deliberate on projects related to the CPEC and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to China. The hour-long meeting focused on the significance of several CPEC projects.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be visiting China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang, on November 1.
Along these lines, Minister Ahsan Iqbal reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing CPEC projects, particularly the ML-1 and Karachi Circular Railways (KCR) projects.
During the meeting, he also underscored the importance of the ML-1 and Karachi Curricular Railways KCR projects, both of which are considered “strategic projects.”
The Minister stated that all formalities in this regard have been completed, including the approval of the Central Development Working Party CDWP, and that ML-1 will have a significant economic impact on both Pakistan and China.

“The ML-1 delay will have an impact on our railway track, which is already in disrepair following the recent flood,” stated Ahsan Iqbal highlighting the significance of this strategic project.
In addition, the Minister of Planning also pointed out the significance of several other projects in various sectors such as energy, information technology, agriculture, culture, and others that will be undertaken during the Premier’s visit to China.
While stressing the importance of projects, he stated that these projects have a significant economic impact at no cost. Likewise, Pakistan also proposed the establishment of a cutting-edge National Forensic Lab to aid in case investigations.
The Chinese Ambassador on his part praised the efforts undertaken by Pakistan, particularly those of the Minister for Planning and Development and Special Initiatives, and assured him of his full cooperation.
