Colombo, 21 August 2021 (TDI): The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong met Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Minister Prof. G.L Peiris on Friday. Foreign Minister Prof. G.L Peiris is the newly appointed FM of Sri Lanka who assumed duties on 18th August. This was his first meeting with the Chinese Ambassador.
During the meeting, both sides had a discussion on several topics including cooperation in international forums, development, training, and reduction of poverty in Sri Lanka. The current COVID circumstances in Sri Lanka were also under discussion. As per reports, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Sri Lanka requested Ambassador Qi to help Sri Lanka meet its increasing Oxygen environment due to COVID. Ambassador Qi vowed to provide Liquid Oxygen and other medical equipment to Sri Lanka, during the meeting.
