Islamabad, 10 August 2021 (TDI): A consignment of almost 1 million Sinopharm vaccination was sent from Beijing to Islamabad, on 9 August as part of a global initiative to deliver 2 billion doses of new coronavirus vaccine to low and middle-income economies worldwide by the end of 2021. Under the COVAX program, Pakistan will be given AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Sinopharm vaccines.
The COVAX is a collaborative effort led by the Global Alliance for Vaccine Immunization (GAVI), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). China joined this initiative on 9th October of last year.
