Beijing, 11 April 2022 (TDI): China has advised the United States to facilitate peace in Ukraine through pragmatic measures instead of sanctions.
In a daily press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Zhao Lijian censured the US for not taking worthwhile action for the facilitation of the peace process in Ukraine and for taking profits from the resultant upheaval because of the Russia-Ukraine War.
The comments were made by Zhao Lijian upon being asked about the US anti-Russian sanctions over Ukraine. He condemned the US for utilizing sanctions to conserve its hegemony and profiteering.
“Escalating sanctions are not helping to alleviate the situation instead they are creating new problems for a world in the midst of an epidemic,” he said.
“History has taught us that sanctions do not end military conflict. They do not bring peace. They make the people suffer.” https://t.co/jpi6l2c8bv
