Beijing, 4 December 2021 (TDI): Recently, new appointments of Ambassadors were declared by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The verdict was declared as per the policies of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

According to this new decision, Qi Qianjin was appointed as the Ambassador of China to the Republic of Croatia. He replaced the previous Ambassador, Xu Erwen, to assume the role. Aside from him, Sun Yanling was designated as the Ambassador of China to Antigua and Barbuda. She replaced Ambassador Sun Ang.

Ambassador Qi Qianjin

Ambassador Qi Qianjin was born in Shaanxi Province of China, in December 1965. He has a Degree in Public Administration. He has an exemplary record of serving his country. The Ambassador served as an Assistant Editor from 1988 to 1991 at the Department of China News for World Service at the Xinhua News Agency.

In 1991 he was appointed as the Attaché and Third Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in the State of Kuwait till 1994. Later, he was appointed as the Third Secretary and Deputy Director at the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (MFA), from 1994 to 1999.

In 1999 he was designated as the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, where he served till 2000. Owing to his magnificent service, in 2000 he was assigned the position of Second Secretary, First Secretary, and Counselor in the Chinese Embassy in the State of Israel, for two years.

His next appointment was in 2002, where Qi Qianjin assumed the role of the Counselor at the Department of Policy Planning, MFA, for four years. The subsequent assignation of the Ambassador was again as the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations from 2006 to 2010.

The Ambassador has also served in the Embassies of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Syrian Arab Republic, and at the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs, MFA. Forthwith, he will be representing his country in Croatia, as per his latest assignation.

Ambassador Sun Yanling was born in Pingshun, Shanxi Province of China in February 1971. She is a university graduate. In 1992 she served as a Staff member at the MFA for two years. Later because of her commendable performance and record she was selected as the Staff member and Attaché at the Protocol Department of MFA for three years, till 1996.

Her next appointment was as an Attaché at the Embassy of China in the Republic of Portugal from 1996 to 1998. Later Sun Yanling assumed the role of the Third Secretary at the Chinese Representative Office in Macao of the Sino-Portuguese Joint Liaison Group from 1998 to 1999.

Following her designation as the Third Secretary, she assumed the role of Third Secretary as well as Second Secretary in 1999, at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in the Macao Special Administration Region for two years.

Prior to being elected as the Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Sun Yanling’s previous designation was as the Minister Counselor at the Embassy of China in the United States of America.
