Chile-Argentina Relations

Both countries were part of the Spanish Colonial Empire before their independence. They gained independence in the South American Wars of liberation.

The countries have shared history, the same national language (Spanish), and similar cultures. However, ties between the two nations were not always warm.

Previously, political and territorial disagreements have negatively affected their relationship. But in recent years, cooperation in the fields of commerce, sports, and culture has increased.

Relations have become exceptionally friendly since the election of Gabriel Boric as Chile’s President. Argentine President also visited Chile for his inauguration.
